In 2021, Highland Glens completed a backup water supply system connected to Erie County Water Authority to secure our community's water future.
After navigating approximately 12 government agencies over more than two years, Highland Glens successfully:
Tapped into Erie County Water Authority's system
Bored a water line underneath Clinton Street to Highland Glens property
Constructed a transfer station
Installed over 4,800 feet of water line connecting to our South Shore pump house
Created a dependable, regulated backup water supply for years to come
The backup system provides:
Reliable supplemental water during periods when our wells are slow-producing
Elimination of dependence on increasingly scarce water hauler services
Long-term water security for our community
Peace of mind during hot, dry months
IMPORTANT: WATER CONSERVATION RULES REMAIN UNCHANGED
This backup supply is a supplement, not an unlimited resource
Erie County Water Authority limits us to a restricted number of gallons (for which we pay)
Conservation remains critical to our community's sustainability
